about mentoring   careers

What is it?
Mentoring in a nutshell is a supportive role. A role of advisor, guide, confidant and tutor. A role where one’s experience is shared to benefit others. Through mentoring you can discuss and/or experience the positives and negatives with someone who has experienced them firsthand, and therefore provide a useful insight before you take the plunge.

One of the cornerstones if Imaad is networking, and mentoring is a natural spin off when networking is successful. Our aim is to attract as many Muslim professionals from different careers to Imaad as we can. Using this broad base we aim to provide a mentoring opportunity for those looking for an insight into a particular role or career path.

Who is it open to?
The opportunities will be available to all individuals at all stages in their careers, i.e. school/GCSE/A level students, graduates, those looking for a career change, or simply career support from a more experienced individual. The mentoring may take the shape of simple advice, or involve more hands on work experience placements. Either way, our intention is to help raise the position of our Muslim community to it’s true potential. Our community needs more professionals.

So if you want to know more about a career in computing, or which ‘A’ levels to take to become an accountant, contact us and we’ll put you in touch with someone who can help. Even if we are unable to help directly, we’ll try and put you in touch with someone who can. We intend to work with the local careers service to help get the necessary advice.

Becoming a Mentor
If you are a Muslim professional and would like to help the local Muslim community by providing advice and guidance in your own area of expertise, please register as a mentor.
