Vama, The Indian Room, Chelsea, London. -Rating 4/5
Vama offers a truly fantastic dining experience. Great food, great atmosphere and great service. The food is mostly from Northern Punjab and comes in large portions. We started with the meat platter which contained some real king prawns - not the baby ones which masquerade as the real thing in most places you go to. The price was a little on the more expensive side with an average cost per person of about £20 per head. However, it was well worth it.

Cafe Lazeez, Soho, London. -Rating 4/5
A great restaurant located in the Soho area of London. The atmosphere is quite relaxed and the tables and chairs are very spaced out. This makes for a relaxed and intimate atmosphere without the guests all being bunched up 'nice and close' to each other. The service is pretty good and there is great flexibility in the menu as you are allowed to mix and match starters and main courses as you please. The food itself is tasty and light. We had a mixed meat grill starter as a main course accompanied by some saag paneer and daal. The paneer in particular was lovely, grilled and succulent. We chose naan rather than rice, with the naan being cooked to perfection - gently crispy whilst remaining soft. At about £18 per head the price is a little on the high side, especially considering we had a starter as a main course. But the ambience and service are worth it and i'll definitely be going again!

Gulshan Tandoori, Opp. Station, Reading -Rating 3/5
This is by no means a luxurious or sophisticated restaurant, rather, homely and warm. The food is quite tasty and certainly value for money, with a decent range of dishes to chose from. The service is friendly and usually expedient (although understandably a little slow on busy nights). Overall, I would recommend this place for people who want decent food for a decent price. I'm not sure if the 'Cobra Beer' was halal but I had Coke to stay on the safe side - I'm sure they won't mind if you ask.

Nando's, Halal restaurants in Slough and Bayswater -Rating 4.5/5
This is a must for anyone who likes to eat healthily but doesn't want to compromise on taste. All the chicken is grilled and tastes fantastic. There is an emphasis on eating with your hands to really enjoy the chicken as well as create intimacy and light hearted fun. The chilli olives and feta salad make great accompaniments. Not great for desserts but overall excellent value for money!

ArRum, Clerkenwell, London -Rating 3/5
Great place to relax with friends. Ideal to pop in for fresh juice (from the non-alcoholic juice bar) at anytime. Alternatively, the lunch buffet for £7 (eat as much as you like) is good value with a variety of main dishes and desserts included. The cuisine ranges from North African to Sub-Continental.

Maroush, London -Rating 3/5
Located on Edgeware Road, this Lebanese restaurant is pure spices and cheese. The spices are found in all the dishes to mouth-watering effect whereas the cheese comes in the form of an aging Lebanese crooner who painfully works his way through every single Tom Jones ballad...every single night. Price per head £20. Worth it if only to see incontinence live on stage.

Halal, Edgeware Road, London.  -Rating 4/5
Halal is not just the food but is actually the name of this Arab chain of restaurants. Very polite and prompt service and not too expensive - about £15 per head. Incredibly light and tasty hummus - nothing at all like the stuff from Tesco's. 4 types of savoury rice available - with saffron, nuts, vegetables and savoury. Wonderfully crisp and crunchy are the falafel (made from something similar to couscous with pesto) and another dish (can't remember the name) which is similar to falafel but has mince in the middle. Family friendly place, spacious and bright. Try the mint tea - I don't drink tea but I could definitely drink this by the bucketful (and nothing like the herbal mint tea from Tesco's), its not sweet, the tea taste isn't overpowering - all the ingredients are blended to perfection. Downside - they serve okra curry which has a very sour taste - like its gone off - but the meat dishes are excellent.

Nadine, Old Compton Street/Greek Street, Soho, London.  -Rating 4/5
Nadine is a bustling restaurant in the heart of Soho serving halal Lebanese Food. The atmosphere is warm and the staff are friendly. There's a great
selection of dishes on the menu but, if you've never sampled arab cuisine before, I would recommend the meze menu. Nadine's meze consists of a never ending selection of hot and cold appetisers (including fresh home made hummus) all served with warm rosemary bread (fabulous!) and pitta.
