| The
History of Islamic Medicine
Date
1930 - 2100, 27th February, 2004
Objective
Modern-day Medicine is highly advanced with astounding breakthroughs occurring
on a daily basis. However, without the contribution of Islamic Medicine
and its practitioners, we would be centuries behind where we are today.
This one-hour talk aims to give an overview of the most prominent contributors,
hopefully improving our self-awareness and reminding us that there are
shining examples whom we need to follow.
Speaker
Dr Ibrahim Sheikh
Event Review
Our History of Medicine event took place as scheduled and provided a sprint
through the ages beginning with Stone Age Man to today's highly specialised
fields. A number of the most influential contributors to Medicine from
the Islamic World were afforded a mention, highlighting our need to know
our predecessors and their place in the pantheon of great figures.
A sincere thank you again to our speaker for the evening, Dr Ibrahim Sheikh,
for his sheer hard work in having travelled such a long distance to give
this talk. His journey provided some meaning to the old adage of "travelling
to China to seek knowledge".
Inshallah, we will provide a similar event in the future to see how far
we have progressed.
